Canada Day Road Races 2014

28th edition of the Canada Day Road Races, presented by Bushtukah, were initiated in 1987 and designed to give runners an opportunity to start off their holiday celebrations with a run through the streets of old Kanata.  It is family friendly as it includes the 5 and 10k races and two children’s events.

The 5K race is also the Ontario Masters Athletics 2014 5K Road Race Championships

course information

Race Courses: 5 and 10K routes are certified and comprised of 1 loop. All start/finish lines are on The Parkway, adjacent to Earl of March High School.

Where : Earl of March High School, 4 The Parkway, Kanata Ontario

Restrictions:

  • no strollers or dogs permitted in any event

5K Road Race

  • Start on The Parkway, approximately 150 metres west of Leacock Way;
  • Take Parkway to Leacock Way and turn right;
  • Take Leacock Way to Leacock Drive and turn left;
  • Continue on Leacock Drive to Pentland Cr.;
  • Turn left on Pentland Cr continue all the way around to the north entrance and corner of Leacock Drive;
  • Turn left on Leacock Drive and continue to Beaverbrook Road;
  • Turn left on Beaverbrook Road and continue to Weslock Drive;
  • Turn left on Weslock Drive to Knudson Drive;
  • Turn left on Knudsen Drive and continue to Campeau Drive;
  • Turn left on Campeau Drive and continue to Teron Road;
  • Turn left on Teron Road and continue to The Parkway;
  • Turn left on the Parkway and continue to the finish;

10K Road Race

  • Start on The Parkway (just east of Lions Way) and continue west to Leacock Way;
  • Right on Leacock Way to Leacock Drive;
  • Left on Leacock Drive and continue to Pentland Cr.;
  • Left to Pentland Cr (south) and continue around the whole way to the north (side);
  • Left back on Leacock Drive and continue to Beaverbrook and Leacock;
  • Continue across Beaverbrook onto Varley Drive;
  • Continue north on Beaverbrook to Lismer Cr.;
  • Turn right on Lismer Cr and continue around to the far end and then right back onto Varley;
  • Continue on Varley to Beaverbrook; turn right on Beaverbrook to Weslock Drive;
  • Continue on Weslock to Walden Drive;
  • Turn left on Walden and continue all the way to Kanata Drive;
  • Turn left on Kanata Drive and continue to Knudson Drive;
  • Turn left on Knudson Drive and continue all the way around Knudson to Campeau Drive;
  • Turn left on Campeau Drive and continue to Teron Road;
  • Turn left on Teron Road and continue to The Parkway;
  • Turn left on The Parkway and continue down to the finish;

directions

From Ottawa: take 417 westbound to Eagleson/March Road exit; at end of the ramp, remain in centre lane for Campeau Drive. Once crossing the intersection, stay on Campeau to the 2nd traffic light. Turn right into the John Mlacak Centre/Earl of March High School parking lot.

South – Take 416 northbound to the Kanata/Pembroke westbound exit onto Highway 417. Continue to Eagleson/March Road exit and follow directions and follow directions above.

West – Take 417 eastbound and exit at Terry Fox Drive. Turn left at end of ramp and head north on Terry Fox Drive to Campeau Drive (just past the Loblaws Super Store) and continue eastbound on Campeau Drive until you reach the John Mlacak Centre/Earl of March High School entrance and turn left into the property.

18 years and under:  $20;

19 years and older:   $35

Nonmembers:

18 years and under: $25;

19 years and older:  $40

June 21 st to June 30 th

18 years and under $25; 19 years and older:  $45

1K Fun Run:  $5 at all times

100 Metre Tot Trot: No charge
