Training

Sunday Morning Runs

Place: Dow’s Lake Pavilion

Time: Sunday mornings, 8:15 a.m.

Sunday morning group runs will become a regular activity for the Run Ottawa Club as we get ready for the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.

We will meet up at Dow’s Lake Pavilion between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. before we set off on a group run over a measured route. Runners will have the opportunity to pick a route of 10, 15 or 20K, each guided by an experienced runner. The 20K runs will gradually increase in distance each week as the Ottawa Marathon approaches, up to a maximum of 35K.

Wherever possible, we will run along pathways and sidewalks, following traffic lights and other rules of the road.  Alternative venues may be offered once monthly for variety.

Come run in a supportive group as you prepare for your race of choice this spring.

Tuesday Training

Update: Tuesday Night Training is on hold until 2014. We will be in touch with members with information about the 2014 training schedule in the coming months.

Training is free for all Run Ottawa Club Members. These training sessions are designed with half marathoners and marathoners in mind, and accommodate runners of varying abilities. The workouts are geared specifically to participants’ training needs and goal races. For the mostpart, everyone does the same workout, but at a speed and intensity that reflects their individual ability.

The Tuesday night sessions take place throughout the year, although the training program reflects two major cycles during the year: one starting in January, to build towards Ottawa Race Weekend (and other spring events) and one starting in July, to prepare for fall races. Feel free to join us at any time to sample these workouts or, better still, consider making a commitment to one of the training cycles if improving your race times is one of your training goals.

If you have any questions about the Run Ottawa Club training program, contact Joe Du Vall at [email protected] or 613-234-2221.
